Part of the EyeSmart Campaign

The seventh-annual Eye Injury Snapshot was May 16 to 23, 2010. Once again, the Academy partnered with the American Society of Ocular Trauma to gather data about eye injuries, as measured during one week of the year. Results are used to educate the public. Learn how the EyeSmartâ„¢ campaign is using these results and other findings to raise awareness of eye injuries. About the Project
The Eye Injury Snapshot is an annual study conducted by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ocular Trauma to identify the nature and prevalence of eye injuries. It has been conducted each year since 2004. Results from the past six years of the snapshot have generally been consistent, but the 2009 snapshot did show an increase in injuries to children. Check out the full analysis of the 2009 Eye Injury Snapshot results.
